Definitions of Technical Authority and TA Matrix

A Technical Authority is a person (or a role) that has the authority to make decisions about the disposition of NonConformance Reports (NCRs) or Deviation Requests. This authority is usually specific to one discipline or other area of expertise.
A Technical Authority Matrix gives a full picture of all those who have the authority to make dicisions.
For any given NCR or deviation request, there may be quite a number of disciplines involved in the dicision-making process.

The TA Matrix defines those people who are able to assess, review, recommend or approve the non-conformities.

The Technical Authority Matrix is a complex document, which takes a lot of time, effort and experience to set up.
It is essential to the effective functioning of the Non-Conformance process.
